AIDA Belgium joins forces with Duiktank Transfo to propose you an exclusive workshop!
As part of the Dive Expo weekend, don’t miss the chance to meet Elaine HICKS, author of Behind the Mask: A Freediver’s Guide to Nervous System Regulation, Recovery & Resilience.
Elaine will lead a full-day immersive workshop, The Science Behind the Calm, offering divers practical tools for interoception, emotional regulation, and deeper understanding of the mammalian dive response. The workshop combines lecture, reflection practices, and an in-water session focused on mental techniques and nervous system expansion through the dive response.
Agenda:
3h dry Masterclass
2h30 pool session practice in a deep pool (15 meters)
1h Q&A
Workshop theme :
- The Mammalian Dive Response: more than reflex – MDR as an ancient dialogue between body and environment shaping calm, focus and survival.
- The 4 portals of the nervous system: breath, body, sight and sound. Find out how freediving activates all 4 access points for total-system regulation.
- Interoception : the new depth. Internal awareness as performance intelligence. Reframing “mental blocks” as physiological feedback loops.
- Nervous system literacy in action : recognizing cues of stress, recovery and regulation underwater.
- Applied self-regulation & psychological first aid: practical tools to stabilize the body’s state, support co-regulation, and expand safety in and out of the water.
